NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC) PARTNERS WITH CARELIFE CHARACTER FOUNDATION ON CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. The NYSC, realizing how impactful this assignment is on National Development has chosen to allow corp members to be used as resource persons and urges corp members to partner with this platform for their group and personal community development projects. This opening came at the launch of the Jema'a Character Education Project, a personal community development project of the NYSC in partnership with the CareLife Foundation, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (Kaduna State), And the National Orientation Agency. The real essence of the National Youth Service will only be fully realized if personnels (youth corp members) are used as arsenals of intervention for National Development. The pictures below shows different phases of Jema'a Character Education Project. Starting from class to class training, counseling and follow up sessions in schools and other public platforms, assessment and subsequent rewards.

Character is the essence of livelihood; a common denominator that can solve wide  range of self and societal complex challenges with a long term breakthrough.This virtue of ‘character’ forms part of every other virtue. It molds, informs and transforms our basic desires, emotions, instincts and impulses into morally good decisions.These decisions strengthen our virtues and tackle our vices. character is like a lighthouse, which illuminates what we have to do to realize or practice different  virtues for effective growth and development of self and our communities. It is a moral compass that steers us towards the more virtuous decisions, and away from the less virtuous ones. It takes a lifetime of practice, experience and reflection to calibrate this compass correctly. Developing and acting with ‘good sense’ gives us freedom – being thoughtful and vigilant about what we are doing, why we are doing it and what we hope to achieve for ourselves and others through doing it. Whatever becomes of a man or his contributions to the society, be it good or bad originates from the foundation of the mindset; the character build up of a man defines the content of the mind and hence the man’s fate and outcome. Positive Character capacity building has been proven as an effective instrument to curb every form of societal menace.
