FOCUS- INTEGRITY IN
PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY
Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Agency (KASTELEA) have since her inauguration by the Kaduna State Government been
at the fore front of ensuring safety on roads by enforcing traffic laws, order,
decency and orderliness within Kaduna State roads and her environments. The
services of this agency compliments the activities of the Federal Road Safety Corp and even more as
KASTELEA does not just pay attention to federal or major roads, but to every nook
and cranny of the state.
This platform has also
been able to provide job opportunities to jobless youths, reduce youth
restiveness, and contribute to the state internal generated revenue and lots
more.
Her unique activities which are conducted with a certain
degree of professionalism and strategic approach even to the admiration and
adoption of neighboring states has as usual (compared to other uniform and
public agencies) started facing different forms of set- backs and image
degradation from corrupt practices of personal interests, greed, extortions of
commuters, uniform abuse, strong resistance from chronic traffic laws defaulters
and other external influences, endangering the image and total output of the
organization.
It is no more news that the management of kastelea in a
quest for decency and to re-position the organization for effective service
delivery recently sacked 124 marshals (bad eggs) who were engaged in different illegalities
ranging from gross misconducts, extortion, and others, from the system.
Using this approach (sacking those that are found wanting) alone,
without building the capacity of the exiting workforce may yield little or no result as many more corrupt
practices may still be practiced by the marshals using different mediums and
patterns to the detriment of the growth and better productivity of the organization.
THE ROOT OF ALL ILLEGALITIES IN PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY CAN BE
TRACED TO THE WRONG/CORRUPT MNDSET (POOR CHARACTER BANK) OF THE EXISTING WORKFORCE,
HENCE THE NEED FOR CHARACTER CAPACITY BUILDING.
One of the first and best ways to solve any complex issues
of life from different platforms is by the simple approach of mindset
rehabilitation through effective character capacity building as whatever
becomes of any individual (positive or negative) stems from the state of an
individual’s mindset.
